Busy Month

I am sorry I have been gone so long. It has been a busy month. Mommy went back to work at a new school and was working very long hours. It was ok though because Daddy was switching jobs and was home with me a lot. Well, then, Daddy left too. Mommy said he had to go for training for his new job. He was gone for 2 whole weeks. Mommy let him talk to me some nights over the phone though. At first, I couldn't figure out where he was. I could hear him but couldn't see him. How weird right? I barked and barked but still he didn't appear. Then I realized his voice was coming from the speaker phone. One weekend while he was gone, Mommy surprised me by taking me to visit grandma and grandpa. I LOVE seeing them! Then the next weekend, I was relaxing in my crate while mommy was at work when who comes in the door? DADDY! Oh my gosh I was beside myself with excitement. I was running around like crazy, rolling around on my back, crying with glee! I got to spend the whole weekend with daddy and mommy. Unfortunately, he had to go back for more training today but he promised he'd be home this weekend. So it looks like just mom and me cuddling in bed together the next few days :). Who knows though... she always has surprises in store for me!

I also forgot to write that last week was my meetup with some other local dachshunds! We get together once a month to play, sniff, bark, you know, the norm.

Hiking is so much fun!

Today some of my doggie friends and I got together to hike again. This time we did the whole trail, and then even some more (I think Mommy and her friends got lost and made us go further!) We had more hills than I remember ever doing and more rocks and water to cross. Now you see, I am not a big fan of the wet stuff but I am getting a little better. I don't mind my feetsies getting wet like I used to. Mommy was so proud of me for having so much energy! I was the smallest dog by far but I led the way the whole time! Go Me!!!! There were two Australian Cattle Dogs, a Beagle, and a Pug/Boston Terrier mix with me doing the hike. I hope I get to hike again with them next month!

My birthday weekend

Well, Mommy says I am now legal! I don't know what that means but I heard her blab something about me being 21 in human years now and only 3 in doggie years. Friday was my birthday and I had a great surprise! Grandma and Grandpa came to visit! I stayed with them for a week in June when Mommy and Daddy were on vacation and Grandpa and I really bonded. He took me to work with him and played with me and spent tons of time with me. I slept snuggled close to Grandma and love her a lot too. So, imagine my surprise when I see them at the door of my house! I was so excited I tinkled 5 times! Daddy had to pick me up and put me outside to go potty but I kept trying to go back and say hi to them. Eventually Daddy held my bum down until I went potty and then let me back inside. I have never peed that much out of excitement before. Once I got back inside to see them, I got tons of kisses, licking, and belly rubs in! Mommy also gave me my first bully stick. She was telling Grandma and Grandpa that it is bull penis. I don't think they were impressed, but boy did I like it! I also got a new toy which I have now fallen in love with. Mommy calls it Bobo and I have seen him in a Petsmart commercial before. Bobo is about the same length as I am. I like to drag him around the house, play with his squeaker, and snuggle with him when I sleep.


Then, to continue my birthday celebration, tonight, we went to my favorite restaurant! It is the same place I went for my Gotcha Day but this time, my friend Elmo came too! He is a deaf dachshund puppy who is part of our local meetup group. Mommy had some other friends come too. I had a lot of fun walking back and forth on everyone's laps!

Overall, it was a good birthday!

Joe again!

Last weekend, Mommy put me over the fence to play with Joe, the mini dachshund next door. We had so much fun playing together! We'd chase each other and wrestle. My favorite thing about him is that he knows I am boss! He always rolls over and submits to me. What can I say, I love being the alpha!

She's at it again!

My mommy is in love with this new machine she got. It kinda makes a bdrrrrrr sound and then stops and then starts again. And when she is using it, she keeps coming over to me and laying fabric on me. Well, this time, it's another dress! But, I like this one better than the last one because I get to go on walks with this one. Mommy put a spot on it for my leash and she said I did such a good job walking in my pretty dress. We saw an old lady while we were on our walk. She thought I was adorable, but I was so excited to see her, I couldn't stop barking at her. I feel kind of bad about it now because I think I scared off her loving pets :(. Maybe I will use this as a lesson for next time!

Oooh, I forgot. She also had me wear my new outfit last night to show off to the neighbors. I liked all that good attention but couldn't wait to get back to harass daddy for some of the pizza he was eating! Unfortunately, he said I couldn't have any :(.

Dachshund Fun

Well, today was fun but tiring. Now, I am poopered out!

First, Mommy and Daddy surprised me with a trip to a huge store! It wasn't full of pet stuff though. This was Daddy's favorite store... Home Depot! Mommy held me the whole time and tons of people showed me loving :).

Then, we came home and Mommy gave me a yummy treat that took me a whole hour to eat!

Then, the day just kept getting better! Mommy took me to see other dachsies at the park. We get to see my dachsie friends about once a month but I have never met them at a park before! I made a new friend too. His name was Elmo. He is a 4 mth. old puppy. Elmo is deaf so he doesn't bark a lot like me and the other dogs. He is such a cutie though and we had fun playing.

After that, we got to come back home for dinner and naps! That's what I am about to get back to as soon as I am done typing! I wish I had taken some pics of my fun time today. I think someone else did so maybe I will add some pictures to here later!

My new stuff!

Well, it has been a little over a week since I last wrote, so I have a few updates. First of all, let me say, I love my mommy :). She got herself some gift that scares me when it makes this weird sound but she makes me cool things on it so I am not too upset. I think she told daddy it was a sewing machine. The first day she got it, she not only made me a Fourth of July bandanna, but also a new crate cover! She knows I like my crate dark like a den, but the fleece blankie that was covering it was a bit hot for the summer. Here's pics of my new bandanna and crate cover.



But, not only did I get those cool things in the past week, I also got an awesome cozy, comfy, new blankie! AND, as if that is not cool enough, it is my favorite color AND it says my name on it! Mommy said a very nice lady with her own cute dachsies made it for me. Mommy goes on and on about how nice people on this dachsie board she goes on are. Someone else sent Mommy a pattern to make me more bandannas. With the pattern, she sent a pretty pink bandanna that says Princess. Mommy and I felt like we hit the jackpot that day when we opened the mail because we had both presents! Here's a picture of me loving my new blankie and wearing my princess bandanna. Yesterday, Mommy took me hiking with our friends Nicole and Annabelle. Annabelle is a dachshund/beagle mix and loves to hike too! She gets to go off lead which always makes me jealous. However, this time, Mommy let me use a really long leash so I could do more exploring. I didn't feel as restricted and I loved it! Annabelle also is a lot more daring than me. She loves to swim in the water. I am going to one day but right now I just get my feet and ankles a little wet. Mommy seems to approve of me going in the water so I will get the guts eventually. Mommy also seems happy that I don't roll around in mud and dirt like Annabelle. She gets all stinky and dirty. I am too much of a lady to do that! I think that's why her mom calls her Stink :). I hope we go hiking again soon! It was super fun!
